I had an amazing experience getting my HD setup put together. I happen to work for Dish Network so I sought out the advice of several different people before beginning this adventure. First I will say that there are so many options out there it's unbelievable. I went to several different places investigating different brands and options for a price that seemed like it was in my range. I decided before hand that if I was going to do this that I was going to do it right and get the most out of my HD experience as possible.
I ended up at a point where I was torn between a Samsung and a Sony Bravio but ended up with the Sony. The picture is incredible even without the HD but I was not finished there. I called up Dish and advised that I had gotten my HDTV and was ready to "get er done". I was greeted by the nicest guy who was knowledgeable and really sweet about listening to me go on and on about my new TV. I told him I wanted the full HD experience and I ended up upgrading my DVR receiver to HD which is great because it is still a dual DVR, just in HD. I wanted my programming upgraded as well and luckily there is a great promotion running right now that allows me to get my programming in HD for free! I like the sound of the word free as it rolls off my tongue.
So jumping to the present, I am loving everything about my HD upgrade. I have a picture that is as lovely as if I was standing in front of the river in "A River Runs Through It" playing on the Hallmark channel. My TV runs on an easy to remember HDMI input and I got an HDMI cable for a better visual experience. Everything about this has been wonderful, I recommend the "whole" HD experience to any avid TV fan.
