What is Satellite in the context of TV?
According to Wikipedia: "An artificial body placed in orbit around the earth or another planet in order to collect information or for communication"
Some of the satellites out there orbiting the earth are designed for and run by TV Broadcasters to transmit their programs (content) to your Receiver. - usually a black or silver box (see picture below).
What is Satellite Receiver?
Definition: An electronic device that converts digital signals from a Satellite orbiting the earth into audio sound and video pictures.
Often the content is transmitted scrambled and to be viewable the Receiver converts or decodes it into usable information, both audio and video.
In addition to the receiver a Satellite Dish is required to pick up the transmissions from the satellite, and pass them along, or transmit them to your receiver.
